Cats can be used as theraputic animals when they have the correct temperament. Cats are harder to train that dogs so most cats that are suitable for therapy work are basically born innately social and and amicable to some training. Cats can be highly adaptable, and can assist people both young and old, with a wide variety of issues. Generally, therapy cats are introduced to participants in a group setting or a series of one-on-one sessions.
Though they often get overlooked, cats are a great option for those in need of a therapy animal. Thanks to their natural bond with people, calming demeanor, and reassuring “purr” of contentment, cats are ideal for relaxation and comfort.
Our cats are all adults, ranging from young adults, to a few who are almost golden. On occasion, we have adoptable cat who are awaiting a forever home. Visit our Adoptable Cats.
